Rachel Writes...
Oh Em Gee! We have been hitting the gym so hard that my body is SORE! I couldn't even get out of bed this morning. We took a day off from the gym earlier this week and I am telling you for some reason that one day threw me off my game big time because the next day....I. Did. Not. Want. To. Go.!! So with that said I think it is wise to keep going. Maybe take a day off a little later in the week. I'll let Jose blog about what exactly he does when he's at the gym but i'll tell you what my typical gym workout is like.
30-45 mins Elliptical
15 mins Stair climber
Then I do about 30 minutes of strength training. For example I'll do 3 sets of 10 crunches, 3 sets of 10 thighs, 3 sets of 10 biceps, 3 sets of 10 chest...(then do a different set of muscles the next day) 3 sets of 10 triceps, 3 sets of 10 calves, 3 sets of 10 gluts.. etc... It's never organized which I know I need to start doing. I just switch it up everyday and try to keep it fresh. Tonight, I am going to probably walk on the threadmill at a fast pace for 30 minutes. Honestly it just depends on how I feel.
Last night I did not want to go to the gym it was so hard getting motivated it was near painful. Jose pushed me though...he said I am going whether you are going or not and I did not want to sit home by myself for 2 hours lonely, bored, and feeling bad for not going so I got up and went. The magic happened once I got there and started heating up... then I felt good and was glad I went.
We weigh in on July 1st to set the month off right. I need a balance though! The gym is going great! but my eating habits are still not up to standards. I know it's completely ok to have a cheat day but everyday i've been eating too much. "I think" and for me to even say "I think' is really bad. I know exactly what to eat, how to eat it, and when to eat it but I haven't. If this is going to be a complete lifestyle change I don't need "diet" foods. I need my real life foods... I noticed I have always kept 4 items in my kitchen at all times. Turkey bacon, cream cheese, romaine lettuce, and coffee! I can live off those for all my life lol. So I created simple recipe for snacks and breakfast.
Fry 2 pieces of turkey bacon in a pan until crisp (yum)
Cut an entire whole stalk of romaine lettuce and lay it flat on a plate. Coat it with cream cheese. Place 1 strip of turkey bacon on top and roll it up. It is to die for! It tastes so good! It's healthy and filling. Try using fat free cream cheese and low-sodium turkey bacon.
Picture of this yum yum can be found here turkey bacon wrap picture

Jose and Rachel are madly in love and they share a common battle. That battle is the villain of obesity. When they met 11 years ago they were both serving our country in the United States Navy and in the best shapes of their lives. After being separated for many years and finally finding each other on Facebook they rekindled their love. Meeting for the first time in 11 years they both discovered fat found them both. This is a story about love and weight loss.

For love
Jose Writes...
Well, I've never blogged before so just bare with me. Been working out with Rachel for a week already, and I got to say that it feels good. I have lost weight and reached my goal plenty of times before, but I got to admit that I just got lazy and let the weight stack back up again. This time around is different, with the love of my life by my side and motivating each other, the loss will be permanent. Feels good to hit the gym every night with her and now fitness is and will always be our way of life for us.

Weigh In Days?
Rachel Writes:
Last night Jose and I were talking about how often we should weigh ourselves. He suggested that we weighed in only once a month. He says he feels that way is better because it won't demotivate him when he see that the scale is not moving as fast as he would like it to. However with me I feel differently, I do agree he has a point. To go the whole entire month not worrying about your weight and when you step on the scale and see a huge 8 pound or more weight loss would seem great. BUT With me I feel like I want to weight myself everyday. Everyone has different things that motivate them. I feel if I weighed in everyday I need to see something real and concrete. What motivates me is seeing how heavy I am seeing that huge number on the scale drives me straight to the gym. On my cell phone I have a photo of my back rolls so I can have a constant visual reminder that I am not where I want to be. Jose's motivation is progress. He wants to see large drops on the scale. With me, a .2 pound loss is excellent! even if I stay the same weight as I did yesterday I feel good knowing I didn't gain. AND If I do see a gain on the scale from yesterday again it is a real-time reminder that is not the number I want to see!
So, right now I am not sure which method I want to use. As of today, our next weigh in day will be on July 1st. We both have mini goals in place. Me: 165 Him: 185
Let's see if we can do it.

by no means. Jose just turned 30 years old and I am 29. We both have struggled with this whole vicious cycle of dropping 30 pounds fairly quickly then turning around and gaining those 30 pounds back plus 5 a short 3 months later. To give you a visual example this is Jose and I back in December 2012

By June 23rd we had both gained 30 pounds each and it's time for a change. We both enjoy a great workout and we don't even mind eating a healthy salad and losing weight. Losing weight is actually not our problem. Our problem is keeping the weight off for good once it's gone! What we are hoping to achieve for the first time in our life is not only to lose the weight but to completely change our entire lifestyle for good!
So we begin, we both have 30 pounds each to lose. We not only want to get back down to our goal weights HIM (150) ME (130) we also want to have visible lean toned muscle. Basically we want to keep it going and be in the best shapes of our lives. We noticed that being in love really helps A LOT!I created a blog about 3 years ago and in this blog it described how I lost 30 pounds in a very short amount of time in a very unhealthy way. That blog is called route 99 my road to 99 pounds. I suffered from anorexia for a short period of time and I no longer support that way to lose weight because it is not effective and dangerous. That blog is still available.
In late 2009 I lost over 30 pounds with this unhealthy way below are the results. but as you can see from my current picture above I am approximately 10 pounds heavier than my "2009 before" picture. Yes, I was able to lose the weight fast but it came back worst than before.
Before I end this first blog I would like to say... This blog will be updated by both Jose and I.
~End/
P.s. Blogger is extremely hard to edit i've been having the worst time.
